David Russell Photography

David Russell is a landscape photographer from the Scottish Highlands, best known for his images of Scotland’s wild forests, lochs and mountains.

Much of his work focuses on Scotland’s beautiful ancient woodlands – the Caledonian Forest – which grow extensively in the Cairngorms National Park. This is the area David calls home, and for over a decade he has been exploring the rarely visited depths of this rare and stunning habitat to encounter sublime moments of light and weather. He is well known for a photography style that often frames icnonic trees as the centrepiece to a whole landscape.

David has worked as a photography guide and workshop leader throughout the Scottish Highlands for adventure travel companies and leading his own tours. He is also a writer and painter, and teaches outdoor skills. His work has been published in several national publications and newspapers. His images have been shortlisted in multiple national photography competitions, including the first place prize in the UK National Parks photography contest.
