Artist’s Statement:

I am sure that every woodland photographer has their favourite tree, and this is mine. ‘Old Faithful’ can be found in a clearing deep in the woods of Rothiemurchus, and I named it such because it never fails to impress. An old ‘Granny Pine’, in the prime of its maturity, it stands proud of the forest, with a backdrop of mountain and woods unlike any other in Scotland. I have photographed it in every possible combination of season, weather, and time of day; but I feel this shot from late winter best captured its remarkable every-day grandeur. A true favourite, with colours that leap off the page.
