Artist’s Statement:

Not a forest scene, but nonetheless one of my favourite images from a very special visit to the coast of Wester-Ross. Taken in midsummer, when the sun hardly sets at all and merely dips below the horizon for a short while. Sunset and dawn are one, and you can watch the red glow simply move from the northwest to the northeast if you stay awake. I did so, as we camped on the beach at Mellon Udrigle, listening to the sound of the waves. At 3.30am I was out on the beach with my camera, and a captured this scene in the gorgeous light of dawn before anyone but the seals and oyster catchers were awake.
