The Lightning Tree

A Scots pine can stand dead for a remarkably long time. The wood dries out and seasons once the bark is gone, leaving a ghostly white sculpture. This one immediately made me think of a lightning bolt, turned upside down and planted, blasting its energy into the sky. As the sun set over the islands of Loch Maree, it was the perfect foreground for the majestic Slioch rising red in the distance.
