    The Nevis Pine

    £125.00 £83.33

Superb quality individual gicleé print in A3 size. Comes in a beautiful presentation box for safe storage before framing, or if you wish to give the print as a gift. Please note frame is not included – illustration only.

    Artist’s Statement:

The humble Scots Pine is a tree beloved of many photographers. Mature trees grow out of their cone-like uniformity into highly individual forms; many with great character and wonderful silhouettes. I came across this one, standing at the top of its little hill, at exactly the right moment for the light (and, naturally, after a mad and exhausting dash uphill). The winter sun was going behind the Glen Nevis hills, but shining brightly down into the glen. Against this light the tree stood our perfectly, creating a sharp contrast that is almost black and white. This minimalist composition was obvious and impossible to resist, and perfectly suited the elegance of the tree itself.

    • About Me

Hi, I’m David Russell. I am a landscape photographer, writer and natural storyteller living in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland. I am inspired by wild places, especially the ancient Caledonian Forests of Scotland. Besides artistic pursuits I am also a qualified wilderness guide and outdoor instructor in several sports. I have led people on trips throughout Scotland, sharing our beautiful landscapes with people from all walks of life.
